I wanted to check out Smith Conservancy just in case the weather was OK for a trip the next day.  It was flooded but still walk-able in many areas.  While walking along the bank of the Baraboo there was a rather large splash--I thought it was either a muskrat or perhaps a beaver.  I walked on a little more and there was a not so friendly beaver swimming downstream.  I could tell he was irritated because he would slap his tail and dive and he did it several times--I got the message "Out of my territory, buster"
