While walking on the Hartje Pond with 5th graders, we came across a black spot on the white ice/snow.  After carefully looking we realized it was a spider.  Picking it up we saw that it was alive!  A winter Spider?  What was it doing out on the ice?  Why was it alive?  Where did it come from?  Wow, lots of questions and no answers.
